The Tone Police

There are so many different types of written communication, and each has its own appropriate tone.

I mean, think about it: you speak differently depending on whom you’re addressing. Texts have different conventions than emails, and emails differ from facebook or blog posts, and blog posts are not the same as formal business letters. Letters have a lot in common with a formal business document like an annual report or a grant request, but the bigger the document, the more structure it needs. Don’t be intimidated by the documents you need to create: let an editor work with you to hit just the right tone.

Seasonal Reviews

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and that means the holidays will soon be upon us.

Do you send out a seasonal greeting to customers (or to friends and family)? Consider having a trained proofreader and editor double-check your message before you send it off. Why? Because everyone makes mistakes! But Message Consulting can help minimize yours.

And if you’re in the restaurant or catering trade, you’re coming into one of your busiest seasons! Consider having a trained proofreader and editor review your catering and event menus. It will make one less thing for you to worry about.

Mother Tongue Review

Are you preparing web or print content in English? is English your mother tongue?

While English has become the lingua franca of the internet, so to speak, it isn’t the first language of everyone who has something to say. English is Deborah’s mother tongue, and she has lived and worked in Canada and the United States. She has studied English, French, Spanish and German, and picked up bits and pieces of lots of other languages. That means Deborah can smooth out your English even if English is your first language, and she can be even more helpful if it isn’t. Deborah can work with you to pinpoint exactly what you want to say—to define and refine your message.

Let us help you get your message out.
